Fiesta de San Medir - Mar
If you have a sweet tooth, then be sure to catch Barcelona's Fiesta de San Medir, held in the artistic district of Gracia in early March. Some 30 neighbourhood groups take part in a colourful parade of decorated carriages, horses, flags and costumes, which originated in the 16th century as a pilgrimage in honour of Santo Emeterio, or Sant Medir, the patron saint of broad beans
At around 8pm the masses gather on Calle Grande de Gracia to collect the volley of sweets thrown from the carriages into the crowd. The festivities come to a glorious end with a firework display in the Jardinets de Gràcia
